How to register, renew or transfer an LEI code
You can register a new LEI, renew an existing LEI, or transfer an LEI from another service provider through Global LEI India. New LEI registrations and renewals are typically completed within 1–2 business days after the required information has been submitted and successfully validated. If your LEI is currently managed by another provider, it can be transferred to Global LEI India before renewal.
This guide explains how LEI registration, renewal and transfer work, including the information and authorisation required for each process.
How to register a new LEI
To register a new Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) with Global LEI India, complete the registration form, enter the legal entity’s basic information, choose a registration period, digitally sign a Power of Attorney, and submit the application and payment. The new LEI is typically issued within 1–2 business days after the information has been successfully validated.
Steps to register an LEI
- Complete the LEI application. Enter the legal entity’s basic information, such as the company name, registration details, and registered address.
- Select the registration period. Choose the preferred registration period available for the LEI.
- Provide authorisation. A Power of Attorney (PoA) is signed digitally as part of the application. This authorises the LEI issuer to complete the registration and validation process on behalf of the legal entity.
- Submit the application and payment. Once the application and payment have been submitted, the provided company information is reviewed and validated against relevant official sources.
- LEI issuance. After the information has been successfully validated, the new LEI is typically issued within 1–2 business days. A confirmation email is sent when the LEI becomes active, together with a link to download the LEI certificate.
These steps are for registering a new LEI. If your organisation already has one, you can renew it with Global LEI india if we manage the LEI code. If another provider manages it, transfer your LEI to us for free before renewing.
Questions or issues during the registration process can be directed to our support team at support@globallei.in.
